ORGANISATIONAL APPS

Dropbox 

Dropbox enables you to store files such as photos, documents and videos. Anything you add to Dropbox will show up on all your devices and even the Dropbox website which means you can access files from anywhere even if you are offline. It also makes it very easy for you to share large files, which sometimes cannot be sent by email. Basic Dropbox accounts start with 2 GB of free space. Read more about Dropbox and download here.

Evernote

Evernote is a free app for your mobile devices and computer that can help organise and save your files, articles you want to read, to do lists, take notes, save photos and videos, make and save audio recordings on the go and track student tasks. By using the Evernote Web Clipper you can also save sites you find online. The app keeps everything in sync between your computer and mobile devices. Find out more about Evernote and sign up for free here. Microsoft OneNote

With Microsoft OneNote, you can create notebooks that help you stay organized, deliver curriculum, and collaborate with students and colleagues. For more information on the use of One Note in education visit onenoteforteachers.com 

OneNote saves information in pages organized into sections within notebooks. It was designed to resemble a tabbed ring binder into which you can directly add notes and any other information and images from other applications. 

If your school is using Microsoft Office you can also use OneNote Class Notebooks which have a personal workspace for every student, a content library for handouts, and a collaboration space for lessons and creative activities. 

One Note comes pre-installed with every version of Windows 10 and it can also be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft Teams

With Microsoft Teams, you can create collaborative classrooms, connect in professional learning communities, communicate with other staff, and even facilitate clubs or extracurricular activities. For a free version of Microsoft Teams click here.

Kahoot!

Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform, used as educational technology in schools and other educational institutions. Its learning games, “Kahoots“, are multiple-choice quizzes that allow teachers and students to generate and create their own quizzes which can be accessed via a web browser or the Kahoot app. 

Edmodo

Edmodo an educational technology company offering a communication, collaboration, and coaching platform to K-12 schools and teachers. The Edmodo network is a free social learning network (like Facebook) enabling teachers and students to connect, collaborate and share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. Socrative

Socrative is a free web application that allows teachers to engage and assess their students. It is a full-featured application that can be used on Android and iOS devices. Socrative is a student response system used by teachers to create formative assessments and obtain results in real-time. A complete guide for teachers on how to use Socrative can be found here

Desmos Desmos

Desmos Graphing Calculator is an easy to use free online graphing calculator. Teachers can create their own activities or use one of the many activities found at Desmos.com to explore mathematical concepts.  There is also a free Desmos Graphing Calculator app which can be downloaded from the App store.
 

MyScript Calculator

MyScript Calculator is a free handwriting calculator app. Users write their calculations like on a piece of paper and the App will provide the results. This calculator is great for arithmetic calculations.
 

Photomath

The free PhotoMath App solves typed Maths problems. Just point your phone camera to a typed math expression in a  textbook, and PhotoMath will instantly display the answer with a detailed step-by-step explanation.

MATHEMATICS SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS

Geogebra

GeoGebra is a free dynamic mathematics software that incorporates geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-to-use package.
The free GeoGebra App can be downloaded from the App Store or access the online version here.
 

Online Arcade of Maths and Logic Games

All games in the free online arcade open in a new tab with no branding, navigation, ads, or any other distracting elements, so students can learn maths while having fun learning in a focused environment.

Stopwatches

At stopwatch.com there are a variety of free online timers you can display on the whiteboard for your classes during timed assessments.
Checkout all the different timers available.
 
Alternatively just type the word ‘timer’ into Google to obtain the timer below which can be projected onto a screen. When using a split-screen you can have one screen showing the relevant timer projected on the board while students are completing a timed assessment or activity and the other screen for you to use to do other work.

Maths Chase provides free games to help students learn their times tables in a fun way. 
 
 

GRAPH PAPER AND MATHS WORKSHEETS

At Math-Drills.com you can find free maths worksheets as well as graph paper, dot paper, isometric paper and coordinate grid paper in both metric and U.S./Imperial measurements.
