About the competition
The Australian Junior Mathematics Olympiad (AJMO), introduced by the Australian Maths Trust in 2026, gives younger students an accessible introduction to Olympiad-style mathematical problem-solving. It encourages students to explore unfamiliar problems, experiment with strategies and persevere with challenging questions. AJMO can also help identify students who would benefit from further mathematical enrichment. It is designed for students who are not yet ready for the more demanding Australian Intermediate Mathematics Olympiad (AIMO).
