Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and scope

MathsTeachersOnly.com is operated by Mrs Angela Kotsiras trading as Maths Teachers Only (‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’). We provide online teaching resources, information and links, including resources available to registered members. This policy describes how personal information is handled when you use the website, create an account, download resources, contact us or subscribe to MathsTeachersOnly Update.

For privacy enquiries, access, correction, deletion requests or complaints, contact us using our Contact page. We seek to handle personal information responsibly and in accordance with Australian law to the extent applicable to our operations.

2. Information we collect

When you register, we collect your chosen username, first and last names, email address, and authentication information needed to operate your account. Passwords are processed by the website’s authentication system; we do not need you to send your password by email.

We record email verification and policy or newsletter consent information, and security events needed to administer and protect accounts. Routine protected-download logging is configured not to store IP addresses or browser details. Any new individual download records are scheduled for deletion after 30 days; aggregate download statistics may be retained. Earlier download records are retained separately while their continued need is reviewed. Hosting systems may also generate technical access and error logs. Registration, security and newsletter-consent records have separate retention needs; see section 7.

If you contact us, we may retain your name, contact details, message and correspondence. When you visit the website, our hosting and security systems may process technical information such as IP addresses, device/browser details, timestamps and requested pages. We may use cookies as explained in section 5.

3. How we use information

We use information to create and administer accounts; verify email addresses; permit authorised access to member resources; communicate essential account/security information; respond to enquiries; protect the website against misuse and automated registration; troubleshoot the service; and comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not treat free membership registration, acceptance of these policies or downloading a resource as consent to receive marketing newsletters.

4. Optional MathsTeachersOnly Update newsletter

Newsletter signup is optional and separate from free membership. The registration checkbox is unticked by default, and a separate newsletter signup form is also available. Where you expressly opt in, the website records the choice and starts a separate email confirmation process (double opt-in). Only addresses that complete the required confirmation should receive the newsletter.

The newsletter system may record the email address, subscription status, the consent wording/version and time, verification and confirmation events, and unsubscribe status. You can unsubscribe through the link in a newsletter or contact us. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not cancel your website account. The current system retains previous unsubscribed statuses rather than automatically re-enrolling them.

We aim to meet applicable requirements for commercial electronic messages, including consent, sender identification and a functional unsubscribe mechanism.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar browser storage to support login sessions, security and form functionality. WordPress may also use browser storage for basic website features. The Pi Artwork Generator saves selected settings and caches digits of π in your browser. You can remove this saved information by clearing the website’s data in your browser.

The website requests fonts from Google Fonts, which connects your browser to Google’s servers. Following external video, social-media and retailer links connects you to those providers, which have their own cookie and privacy practices. Embedded third-party content, where present, may also process information when loaded or used.

We do not treat browsing alone as consent to optional tracking. If we introduce optional tracking that requires consent, we will provide appropriate information and choices before enabling it. You can manage cookies and website storage through your browser settings. Disabling necessary cookies may affect login and other website functions.

6. Service providers and links

Our website is hosted with Crazy Domains. WordPress and installed website software provide account registration, email verification, protected downloads, contact forms and newsletter subscriptions. Information is processed as needed to operate these functions.

The Contact form uses Akismet for spam filtering. Contact or comment data and technical request information may be sent to Akismet for this purpose. Contact messages are forwarded to a Gmail mailbox monitored by the website owner. Messages submitted through the Contact form are not published publicly by the form.

The Pi Artwork Generator retrieves digits through the website’s server-side connection to Pi Delivery. The selected numerical starting position is supplied for these requests. Artwork rendering and PNG export take place in your browser.

External providers, including Google’s font and email services and Akismet, may process information outside Australia. Akismet states that it uses servers worldwide. Processing locations and retention practices depend on the relevant service provider. Please use our Contact page if you need more information about how your information is handled.

The website contains links to external sites, including educational resources, video services and book retailers. Those providers have their own privacy practices. Follow their notices before providing information to them. Affiliate referrals may be governed by third-party tracking and cookie practices; see our Disclosure Policy.

7. Security, retention and account requests

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the website, including controlled membership access, account verification and measures intended to reduce automated signups. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above or applicable recordkeeping, dispute resolution and legal obligations. We will assess requests to access, correct or delete information and explain if any information must be retained. We do not promise immediate erasure of security, suppression or legally required records.

8. Questions and complaints

Use our Contact page if you have a privacy concern or wish to request access, correction or deletion of personal information. We will investigate and endeavour to respond within 30 days. Whether a particular complaint can be made to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner depends on the applicable legal framework; information is available at https://www.oaic.gov.au/.

9. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as our website changes. We will publish the revised version and its effective date, and give additional notice or seek consent where required by law or where a materially different use of information requires it.
