University of Melbourne School Mathematics Competition (SMC)

About the competition

The University of Melbourne School Mathematics Competition, established in 1972, is a challenging problem-solving competition organised by the University’s School of Mathematics and Statistics. Its questions reward mathematical insight, creativity and clearly explained reasoning rather than routine application of classroom methods. It is particularly suitable for students who enjoy tackling unfamiliar and demanding problems.
